Two Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
